| About |
| A native to the High Desert of California André got his first taste of documentary photography exploring abandoned houses and photographing the left behind remnants of people’s lives. After working as an Art Director for 7 years at two different trade magazines, he relocated to San Francisco to pursue his MFA in Photography. While earning his MFA at San Francisco’s Academy of Art, Andre focused on developing and honing a photojournalistic eye. André continues to explore and photograph the hidden life of Californians and other topics, from abandoned buildings throughout the Bay Area and homeless metal thieves to underground dining events in the city. By creating images that are simple, yet refined it is his intention to take people by surprise, and present the viewer with a new perspective, something they would normally never see on their own. It is the real world that André is tapping into. His work has appeared in many different publications including: the Wall Street Journal, People Magazine, CMYK Magazine, Beauty Store Business, Information Magazine, Digital Photographer Magazine, 180 Magazine and the online publications zREPORTAGE, VR Magazine, and Snapixel Magazine. Andre has earned numerous industry accolades, including a bronze in documentary photography at the 63rd Annual College Photographer of the Year Awards, 2008, Award of Excellence at the 64th Annual College Photographer of the Year Awards, 2009, and was invited to participate in the Eddie Adams Workshop, the premiere photojournalism workshop in the country for students. André's work is currently represented by ZUMA Press news wire service. His clients include: Levi Strauss & Co., Lark Creek Restaurant Group, Cleantech Group, Beauty Store Business Magazine, Tim Wagner Images, Graffeats Dining Events, and The California Center For public Health Advocacy. |
